Report on Flow 60 and Halloween in Salem from Jonathan Friz

On October 29-31st, prayer groups from around New England gathered together in downtown Salem, MA at Eastgate Christian Fellowship, to make a stand for Jesus Christ in the midst of the Halloween festivities. The gathering, called "Flow six-oh (60)" was forged out of a hunger for unity and designed to bring many ministries together from around New England for united prayer and outreach. In a happy stroke of Providence, the 60 hour event included the October "5th Friday". At Eastgate and around New England, we were flowing together in the Spirit. Most participants were younger, and included Jamie Dickson and a group from Maine, a YWAM team from Kona Hawaii, Ryan Weatherhead and a team from Connecticut, as well as many others.

Although the 3 day prayer and outreach gathering began on Thursday night, we began 24 hour prayer with our 5th Friday gathering on October 30th. The sweet presence of the Lord was thick in the room as about 50 participants meditated on His love for us during the 5th Friday. I remember thinking how peaceful everything felt that night-God was stirring love for Him in our hearts-wooing us, bringing us to repentance, that was all. Even as we began to pray about Halloween, asking God for healings, deliverance, and salvation for the lost, there was a real sense of peace and rest. Love, peace, rest, faith, agreement with His word-these are the weapons of our warfare and I knew that we were warring in agreement with Heaven. What amazed me was that I did not really sense very much spiritual opposition. I was wondering, "Where's the spiritual opposition?" In hindsight, I see that God was establishing us in a place of confident trust, where our eyes were only on Him and we were completely confident of our victory with Him. We would need to be confident in love in order to take our stand for light in Salem on Halloween...

Prayer went on through the night and into the next day. After checking out the Halloween crowds and another Halloween outreach sponsored by a church called The Gathering, I headed back to Eastgate. The prayer had been going on since I left last night, but when I arrived everyone seemed to be taking a break, getting ready for the night. Tonight, rather than concentrating our force in the prayer room, half of the participants were in the prayer room, half the team was ministering on the streets.

In the prayer room, the difference in the atmosphere was tangible. First of all, in contrast to the previous night, I found it very difficult to enter into worship. At one point, I found someone sharing Scripture, the same Scripture I had shared the night before but in my mind I was saying, "yeah right, that's not true." How could I be denying the very thing I was preaching the night before? When this happened, I quickly came to my senses, realized I was under spiritual attack, and buckled in for a wild night of prayer.

The opposition was fierce. It seemed I had to keep praying continually in order to keep pushing against the resistance we were facing. It was not scary or laborious, there was just an awareness that if I stopped praying and releasing the Holy Spirit, the enemy would begin to move in and overcome. I could also tell that others in the room were under the influence of the same heavy, lying spirit that had come on me at the beginning of the night. In response to these lies, we prayed out of Colossians 1 and 2, declaring the reality that Jesus is Lord over every principality and power in the universe, and that we were His representatives in this place. As we declared this truth, the air in the room seemed to clear, as if all of a sudden we realized that in Christ we could not lose.

Meanwhile, on the streets packed with 100,000 revelers, we were beginning to reap the fruit of our united prayer and simple confidence in Jesus. Teams were inviting passers-by to receive prayer for healing and also to receive prophetic words. The teams reported close to 100% success in healing prayer. When I first heard what they were saying, I did not believe it. I had never seen that kind of success in praying for healing. All in all, they could only think of 3 or 4 people all night who were not healed after receiving prayer. Many people with back-pain or other "minor" ailments were receiving a touch from the Lord. One woman who could not move her right knee came up for prayer. She was a bit facetious about the whole process, yet sincere. After receiving prayer she not only moved her knee, she was dancing around on the crowded streets saying, "I'm healed, I'm healed, I'm not even joking."

An unknown woman came up to receive a "spiritual reading". The Lord gave Jamie some information about her-she was into the occult and channeling spirits. Then it got really specific. Jamie was able to tell her that she had recently started channeling a spirit that was more than she had bargained for, and that she was losing sleep because of this evil spirit. The woman said, "I've been waking up every morning at 4am...You're good, you're really good."

Another man walked up to one of the Hawaiian missionaries and said, "I'm a bad person, can you help me?" The young man said, "Do you want to receive Jesus as your savior?" The man said, "Yes". In 10 seconds he had prayed to receive Jesus into his heart, after 30 seconds, he had received prayer to be filled with the Spirit. He left saying, "I don't know what you just did, but I feel completely different. Thank you." The outreach team said it seemed as though there was a zone of glory where they were ministering. When people walked in, they were changed. The growing strength of faith among us, the boldness of the witness on the streets, the unity, the 24 hour prayer covering, the united prayer around NE on 5th Fridays-all these factors working together contributed to God releasing Glory on the streets of Salem during Halloween

Meanwhile, we were still going strong back in the prayer room-still pushing back against something. As we prayed, the Lord gave me the word "retainer"; we were like a retaining wall, holding back the evil that was wanting to come into Salem. We cried out for the ignorant and curious to be spared encounters with darkness out of curiosity. We prayed for people to go home early and go to bed. We prayed for mercy.

At the end of the night, there was a strong sense that we had prevailed...we had won the battle in the heavens that night, in the same way that the RAF won the Battle of Britain by continuing to push back a superior force, preventing an invasion. We had been a spiritual retaining wall, standing against an invasion of darkness in that city.

On Monday, I read the Salem newspaper. "Unseasonably Mild", reported The Salem News, in addition to record high temperatures, crime and violent crime were at all-time lows this year, in spite of record crowds. The paper also reported that a noticable amount of people had decided to go home early, just as we prayed. Clearly, our prayers were not the only factor. The other Saints that were doing outreach, the people on the streets, and especially the public service workers and city officials all made this possible. Still, the written record of Halloween seemed like a report on what we had asked for in our time of prayer. What we were sensing in the prayer room, we were then able to read about in the newspaper.

12.13.2009

I pray everyone out there is really enjoying the holidays. It’s been interesting going into different stores and meeting friends, wondering what holiday greeting they will give me. The other day in a store they had a display that said “Wishing is the reason for the season.” Like, “right in your face Jesus”. I wish I had a marker to cross it out, but that store has more franchises that I could attack with a marker in a lifetime, crossing out wishing and tagging Jesus. They should stick to making caramel mochachinos and hiring ex bums.

But then there are other times you meet someone, who with a firm handshake says; Merry Christmas with a twinkle in their eye and you know that they know exactly what they are talking about. This year I will be vigilant in only saying Merry Christmas because Christ was merry and so am I.

So I have been very late in compiling a year end report of The Uprising and also FLOW 60. Don’t let you eyes deceive you, here it is, finally.

The year opened up with 21 days of prayer and fasting. During this time we really felt a renewed call from the Lord to continue and expand the call that God has placed on the Uprising, as a monthly gathering of worship and prayer. Our mission defined to stand in the Gap for the young adults of the North Shore, praying for revival and unity.

During this time the Lord also released a strategy of street evangelism on the Saturday afternoons right before the Uprising service that has been very fruitful not only for those hearing the message, but for the brave ones who step out into that call.

As the year progressed, we’ve seen the Lord transition our meetings into some very intense times in the Lords presence, where different ones have found a greater release in their gift of speaking, worship and corporate prayer. We have seen the Lord release many prophetic acts and words of the Lord through a diverse range of individuals that have given themselves fully to His cause.

Some highlights of the year would be in March when we had roughly 80 people come to our Uprising service crying out to God for a renewing of His Spirit in our time with preaching out of Hab 3:2 “Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, O Lord. Renew them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy”. That we would know His greatness in our day. I am so proud of the band and different ones who have really helped take the services to a new level.

This year the Lord has really expanded our borders. We have been praying for a greater network to be created between different churches and young ministers. We were blessed to have Crave ministries join us a couple of times this year. What an encouragement from our brothers in Maine. Youth Storm also played a part in leading an Uprising service. We want to thank Harvard Awakening for their friendship and support as well as Gateways of Peace and Adonai Christian fellowship among others.

Our fall conference with Holyfire was incredible. Justin and crew really blew the lid right off. They really demonstrated what a heart they had for the church and His move. One of the most memorable parts of that weekend was a preaching calling the church to sabotage the kingdom of darkness from within. Knowing that Christ calls everyone to lead subversive lives, spreading light in the kingdom of present darkness.

Our heart has always been for unity. This was especially showcased in FLOW 60, our 3 night 36 hour time of prayer in worship over Halloween. We were blessed to have 8 different churches join us during this time. On the day before Halloween, we held a watch night service with continuous 1 hour worship sets from 7pm till 7 am. What a powerful experience.

During this time, God released several words concerning his plans for this city. As we spent the night in worship, prayer and making prophetic declarations, it was clear that God was raising up his army to take a stand in the midst of all the darkness and oppression that tries to invade Salem every Halloween. We got a real clear picture of the souls that were in the balance and God’s heart for his lost children. It was as if thru prayer, God laid a plastic sheet over our city, and when the enemy tried to grasp and pollute Salem, there was a Godly barrier preventing that access.

We had team on the street all day on the last 2 days of October.

Most team walked through the city, prayer walking and evangelizing. On group made two signs reading “Free Spiritual Healing” and other sign reading “Free Spiritual Readings”. It was amazing to see how lines would form in front of the groups, as people came to receive prayer.

Teams were able to pray with hundreds of people. Many people received Christ or rededicated their lives to Him. We had reports of people’s legs being healed and a lot of prayers for God to reveal his power to different ones.

There was a report of a girl who had arthritis. A group prayed for her but nothing happened. Then one of the group members noticed a new age bracelet. As soon as the bracelet was removed she was healed. Another man had a knee problem and stopped for prayer. After a couple of minutes, he was asked to walk around to test the knee. He didn’t feel anything so started walking back to catch up with his friends. As he was walking along he started jumping and yelling that he was not lying and that his knee was really healed.

There were other reports of many words of knowledge. One case involved a girl who was told by a team member that she was dabbling in the occult and that a shadowy figure was tormenting her every morning. To her surprise she confirmed that it was true and she was awakened every morning at 3 by some sort of demonic visitation. The team was able to pray with her and break that curse.

Another report was of atheists and even a witch accepting Christ. Even in the weeks since Halloween, we have seen two more people on the streets give their lives to Christ, one of them even started meeting weekly with us for discipleship.

We were so overwhelmed by what God did in and thru us. I truly believe that our concerted prayers and worship as incense has risen up to God and the bowls are tipping. God is looking for radical, committed ones who will see to it that His Kingdom is ushered in a greater way into our lives and communities.

There is a further call to remove all compromise, and luke warm Christianity from our lives. We are fully looking forward to what God has in store for us this coming year. Our prayer is to go beyond where we have gone last year. Our focus is on ministering to the heart of God and also to fulfill His great commission in our city. Our prayer is that God opens up new and effective doors, especially on local college campuses.

We want to thank all those who have partnered with us this year. All who have served in any way, we really could not have done any of this without you. For those who do not know, we are not having Uprising services in December or January and will resume Feb 20th.

We would like to announce that our church, East Gate Christian Fellowship will be hosting 20 days of fasting and prayer from Jan 4th- 24th. We will be holding nightly meetings from 7-8 pm at East Gate located at 9 Church St. Salem, MA. The Uprising crew will be leading prayer on Thursday nights. Please feel free to join us.

We are so excited for what God is going to do this coming weekend. Everywhere we turned, more and more groups and churches expressed such a desire and confirmation that the Lord was leading them to have a part in what God wants to do in Salem. I truly believe that these will be historic times as we attend to a blazing altar unto God in the midst of such debauchery that is Salem during Halloween. Below is the scheduling for the services. We are calling for extended prayer with fasting on this Tuesday and Wednesday in preparation for these services. We eagerly await seeing you this weekend. If there are any questions, please feel free to email us or you can reach Andre or Kristin at 978 790 4095.

Flow 60

The Lord has been laying on our hearts an unquenchable desire for prayer, worship and unity. Throught the body of Christ, there have been many localized movements of prayer and worship. Today, the call is to increase this scale and power by calling a 36 hour, 3 night event called Flow 60 (six oh) for the 3 last days of October, ending on Halloween night.

Below is the scheduling:

Thursday, October 29th, Meeting #1 at 7-10pm at the Kingdom Life Center at 127 North St. in Salem. This meeting will consist of interactive worship and prayer for our city, and will be broken into 3 one hour sets, led by different area ministries.

Friday, Oct 30th will consist of street evangelism, prayer walking and prayer sets from 11am to 5pm meeting at East Gate Christian Fellowship, in downtown Salem at 9 Church St.

Friday, Oct 30th Service #2 will begin later that evening at 7pm at East Gate Christian Fellowship. This meeting marks the beginning of 27 hours of non stop prayer and worship. This service will be broken into 1hour worship and prayer sets led by different area ministries.

Our vision is to partner and line up as many worship sets as possible to carry worship and prayer all through the night and into the following day. We recognize that at some point we might run our of bands, resulting in switching to playing Cd’s with our corporate time turning into a more personal time of prayer and waiting on the Lord.

Saturday Oct 31st Prayer and worship will be scheduled in 1 hour slots through the day as we continue the 27 hours of prayer and worship. At the same time we will also be joining East Gate Christian Fellowship from 11am-5pm in outreach in the Cave Café with the serving of free Hot Chocolate, Coffee and snacks. The Cave Café will also be hosting different musical performances, skits, testimonies and preaching. We would like to open up this ministry opportunity to all those participating in FLOW 60.

Saturday Oct 31st Flow 60 will end with a celebration service on Saturday at 7-10 pm with worship and prayer once again broken into 1 hour slots being filled by different area ministries.

The purpose of this email is to invite you to join us in these times listed above. My prayer is that this vision stirs your heart to bring your passion, wisdom and zeal , believing God to make this the most impact full Halloween yet. Our prayer is that we would allow the Lord to join our hearts as we come together, standing in the gap for our city and seeing strengthened bonds of friendship and unity being forged during and thru these meetings.

Each hour slot will take on its own flavor, incorporating different aspects of music, interactive media, prayer points, open mic prayers and whatever else the Lord leads us to do. We are also looking for anyone that would like to minister in the Cave Cafe Outreach. These performances and times of sharing can be schedule in 10-30 minute intervals. Please respond to this email if you would like to have an opportunity to minister in the Cave Cafe.

We are in the process of creating a facebook page for this event, with up to date scheduling of participating ministries.

One Standard to Uplift: JESUS

The Uprising is gearing up for an incredible fall. Our schedule will includes some great concerts, conference, prayer, campus outreach, street evangelism and of course abandoned nights of Uprising worship, exhortation and prayer. The finalized schedule will be posted around the 20th of this month.

The Lord has been laying on our hearts an unquenchable desire for prayer, worship and unity. I believe a key verse for this fall is Isaiah 60:5 “Thy shalt see, and flow together” The following exhortation has been based on the book by Derek Prince “Shaping History through Prayer and Fasting”.

The Word of God reveals to us that we, His church are his main rep and agent on the earth today. This main agent is being restored to God’s own standards of purity, power and order. The church restored will be enabled to fulfill its destiny and bring a triumphant climax to God’s purposes in this age. God’s heart is for order and restoration. His bride walking in unity.

We see in Ephesians 4:13 “Until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” This vision is for a growing and developing church, moving towards a predetermined end.

The way that leads into this unity is indicated by “the (acknowledging) of the Son of God”. All doctrines in the New Testament center in the person and work of Christ.
When Christians are willing to acknowledge Christ in His Fullness, and to give Christ His rightful position in their lives and in the church, all the various doctrines in Christianity all fit together in Him, just like the spokes of a wheel fitting into its hub.

The Glorious church, growing into full stature will be able to represent Christ in all His fullness. We will be, in the truest sense, the embodiment of Christ. We will constitute the consummation of God’s purposes for the church: that is, the perfect revelation of Christ endowed with every grace, gift and ministry.

In Ephesians 5:25-26, Paul presents Christ first as Redeemer, then as Sanctifier. The Blood of Jesus is the Redemption; the Word of God is the Sanctifier. The Sanctifying operation of God’s word is compared to the washing of pure water. It is the Holy Spirit who bears witness to both these aspects of Christ.

In Ephesians 5:27 this double ministry presents a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. The glory of God will permeate the church. God’s personal presence will be made manifest to human senses. Just like the cloud in the desert, the completed church will be overshadowed, filled and illuminated by the manifest glory of God.

Isaiah 59:19-60:5 portrays the end purposes of God. There will be a worldwide demonstration of God’s glory that will cause awe and wonder among the nation. The enemy will rise up like a flood, but that opposition will be overcome by the Holy Spirit.

With the full knowledge that God is coming to our help, people of God from every direction will gather around the uplifted standard and regroup for a fresh offensive. What is the standard that the Holy Spirit uplifts? John 16:13-14 Jesus said “He shall glorify me”. The Holy Spirit has only one standard to uplift. It is the person of Jesus

For every true believer, loyalty to this standard, Jesus Christ, is primary. Every other commitment, whether to institution, denomination or doctrine, is secondary. Wherever such believers see Christ truly uplifted by the Holy Spirit, they will gather.

The effects of this regathering are listed in Isaiah 59:19-20 God’s people are turning back to Him in repentance. Christ is working again in His church, bringing redemption and deliverance. He is renewing His covenant and restoring the fullness of His Holy Spirit. Once again, God’s people have become His witnesses. With God’s Spirit upon them, His Word is being proclaimed through their lips.

All age groups are included in this visitation, but there is a special emphasis upon the young people. This is the same outpouring predicted in Joel 2:28 and Acts 2:17:” Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions”. This is not a temporary visitation; it is “from henceforth and for ever’. The Holy Spirit’s fullness, now being restored to God’s people, will never again be taken from them.

The darkness is growing darker, but the light is growing brighter. This is the hour of decision, the paring of the ways. There can be no more neutrality, no more compromise. The vision of God is to bring His church together. From every historical background and from every section of Christianity. Unity will release the flowing of streams of revival; these steams will unite themselves into one irresistible river. Holy awe will come over God’s people at the revelation of His power and glory. There will also be an enlarging of our hearts, an enlarged capacity to comprehend and to fulfill the purposes of God.

Let us look at the petty divisions that have kept the church separate for so many years and attack that spirit with a decisive blow. The Lord is raising up a new generation unhindered by every past system and mindset that has hindered true unity. This new generation of Nazarites and Levites will seek the Lord with a radical and abandoned passion.

There, laying on the floor, or dancing in the aisles, 24-7, we will finally meet our other brother and sisters, who for so long never ventured outside of their own churches. This embrace will be sweet, and long overdue. Love will mark the true church of Jesus Christ. In Unity the blessing will flow. UPRISE

thanks burnwagon!

What an awesome week we’ve had. Last weekend with the Burn Wagon was incredible. After a tasty bbq, we hit the streets of Salem for prayer and evangelism. The Lord led some of the team members to the old city hall on Essex St. It was kind of funny because as they kept walking they always ended up back at the same building.

At first they did not know what building it was. The Lord started showing them that decrees had been made from this building that let the city down paths of unrighteousness. As they received this, the Lord started giving them prophetic declarations to speak about the future of the building and the future of Salem. This along with several salvations made for a great afternoon.

Later that evening, the Burn team led worship and ministered at the Uprising service. We had a turnout of roughly 60 people and the presence of the Lord just fell. The worship team never even played a standard song, rather moving through chord progressions with prophetic songs and intensity that was truly amazing.

As the service progressed, several words of encouragement were given, including words about the coming move of God in our city and a generation of young people finding their portion before God. As the service turned into a time of prayer it was clear that God has set up the entire night as many received prayer and an impartation of greater faith and expectancy.

Then after the service was over we stopped by a Walgreen’s to buy some frozen pizza and some team members started talking to an 18year old guy right in the parking lot. He got saved, his girlfriend got saved and two other friends came over and also received prayer. Truly an amazing night.
We just want to thank the Burn Wagon for all they did and even though the time was short, we believe that God has more in store for us as we press onto our full calling in Christ.

6.19.2009

Welcome

We are so excited about the Burn Wagon joining us this saturday. For all of those interested, we will be doing street evangelism on saturday, June 20th at 1pm at the Kingdom Life Center, 127 North St. Salem, MA. The uprising service will be held at the same location starting at 7pm. This is a cross denominational spirit led night of worship and prayer. We hope to see you there.
